My Story

I grew up in Burlington, Ontario with my parents Mario and Jennifer and my older brother Matthew. I played for the Burlington Eagles organization before switching over to girls hockey in Oakville. From there I played for the Oakville Hornets where I was recruited to the Ohio State University. I went to Ohio State over the span of 6 years. The first four graduating with a BS in Health Sciences and minors in integrative health and wellness & clinical psychology and individual differences and after my fifth year I graduated with a MA in bioethics. While at Ohio State we had our first frozen four appearance in program history, followed by 3 more, we won our first WCHA Championship in program history and we won our first regular season championship in program history. I was able to leave the program as a two-time captain, the all-time points leader and someone who is extremely proud and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a major shift in the success of the program. In 2021, I learned that I would be centralized with Team Canada, where I moved to Calgary in efforts to make the 2022 Olympic Team. Making the team and becoming an Olympic Gold Medalist has truly changed my life. The opportunities this gives me are endless and I feel like if I didn’t use these opportunities for the better I would be doing a disservice to my community. I recently was drafted in the inaugural PWHL draft to Toronto and I am so excited for this chapter of my life to get started.

Voice In Sport
I interned for VIS as a Creator in the summer of 2022 because I got exposure to advocacy and wanted to learn more about the power in the strive for equity in sport. I learned a lot about the benefits of mentorship and reasons why we need extensive advocacy in our sports world today. My main projects with VIS were the commencement of a Canadian VIS and gaining exposure of the platform amongst youth sports teams. I still stay involved with VIS by being a VIS mentor for the platform and through the Ohio State VIS Chapter. A Chapter is space where members can come together and evaluate their athletic department’s following of Title IX. I founded the Chapter at Ohio State in 2023 and also made it a student organization allowing the purpose of the chapter to expand into a space where women student athletes and other athletes can build relationships, gain confidence in the NIL space and to have a comfortable space to talk about their experience.
